SAINT PAUL — K.C. Wolf, official mascot of the Kansas City Chiefs, visited Prairie Mission Retirement Village in Saint Paul Tuesday afternoon to see devoted fan Mary McCune, 89, previously of Chanute, and other residents.
The mascot visited after staff arranged for McCune to receive a personalized letter and autographed picture of Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes, her favorite quarterback.
McCune has a poster of the Chiefs player in her room.
McCune’s daughter, Debbie Schoenhofer of Saint Paul, said she has always liked sports and also supports the Kansas State University Wildcats and Kansas City Royals.
“She loves the Chiefs,” Schoenhofer said, and acknowledged that McCune was very surprised by the visit. “She really had a good time.”
“Mary, other residents, staff and visitors were all excited to see K.C. Wolf,” said Melinda Ewan, administrator.
