A rural Chanute man will face sentencing in December after he entered pleas Wednesday to several sex-related charges.

Zachary Dean, 20, 192 Tulakes Road, pleaded no contest Wednesday to charges of attempted aggravated criminal sodomy and two counts of aggravated endangerment of a child. The amended charges were filed Tuesday from a June 30, 2018, incident involving a victim “age 14 or 15.”

Judge Daryl Ahlquist set sentencing for 9:30 am Dec. 18 and ordered Dean to register as a sexual offender. Dean currently is free on $100,000 bond.

Dean could be sentenced to 55 to 247 months in prison and a fine of up to $300,000 from the sodomy charge. Each of the endangerment counts carries prison time of five to 17 months and a fine of up to $100,000.
