Shirley Marie Mueller, 81, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 09, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

She was born November 6, 1937, on the family farm near Toronto, Kansas, the daughter of Delbert and Rachel (Town) Sallee. She spent her childhood on the farm and graduated from Toronto High School.

Shirley was a member of the United Methodist Church in Yates Center, Kansas, where she had previously made her home. She had been employed at Gates Rubber Company in Iola for more than 20 years until her retirement.

She and Harvey John Mueller were married on July 9, 1982. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2006.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and liked to play dominoes and cards.

She was also preceded by her parents, Delbert Sallee and Rachel Town Sallee Abbey.

She leaves her daughters, Glenda Howard and husband, Forest, of Yates Center, and Kathy Haynes and husband, Donnie, of Wichita; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Vining (Don), Samantha Lowe (Tim), and Deserae Haynes; 7 great-grandchildren, Jade Nietfeld, Hannah Vining, Collin and Jaycie Randall, and Kana, Alex, and Eli Lowe; her brother, Jack Sallee, Benton, KS; her sister, Phyllis Meonske (Norman), Ravenna, OH; her beloved dog, Dexter; other relatives and friends.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the Yates Center Cemetery Gazebo.
