Marvin David “Dave” Wiles, 71, passed away in complete serenity August 13, 2019. He extended his farewells at the Fresno VA Medical Center, surrounded by family that love him dearly.
Dave was born January 14, 1948, in North Carolina, the son of surviving parents, Lena Jane and Marvin Luther Wiles of Madera, California. He was the oldest of 3 siblings.
Dave graduated with an Associate’s Degree from West Valley College in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant E-1 from 1967 to 1968, and a Sergeant E-5 from 1968 to 1969. After his discharge, he managed restaurants and was later employed as a security guard and director of maintenance in a medical facility. Dave retired in the year of 2014.
He lived and worked in Chanute, Kansas for 8 years, and moved back to California after retiring. Dave leaves behind many friends in Chanute.
He is survived by his daughter and son, Charlotte Wiles of Boulder Creek, California, and Adam Wiles of Ione, California; parents; sisters, Gloria Diann Wiles of Pacific Grove, California, and Judy Doreen Wiles of Madera, California; grandchildren, Jack Wiles and Savannah Elyce Santos of Sanger, California; and nieces, Elizabeth Wiles of Seaside, California, and Lena Hemler-Wiles of Fresno, California. Notably, Dave is also survived by his best friend, Siberian Husky Rocko.
An honorary graveside service will be held at Arbor Vitae in Madera, California, followed by a memorial at Dave’s home in Fresno, California. As it was his wish to be cremated, he will be interned at the Wiles family plot in Arbor Vitae Cemetery of Madera.
