Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Church of the Nazarene, Chanute, Kansas. Interment will follow at Earlton Cemetery, Earlton, Kansas. Any flowers are to be sent to the church in Chanute. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to Deer Creek Animal Hospital, Chanute, Kansas and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Eugene was born on April 30, 1936 to Thomas and Edith (Crowl) Evans of Rollins, Kansas (rural Chanute). Eugene married and later divorced Leona Boan. He later married Sherry (Hammack) Evans in 1976. He worked as a welder for Churchill in Chanute and later as a farmer’s helper in Missouri until he became disabled. He liked hunting, fishing, camping, Royals baseball and sharing stories. Family was the most important thing to him and he loved being a grandpa to everyone. Whether you knew him as Gene or PeeWee his advice, strength, love and courage will always be remembered.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Sherry Evans, children, Duane (Penny) Evans, Topeka, Diane Dixon, Chanute, Doris (Ed) Hart, Chanute, and Andrea Evans (Jeff Ford), Lindsborg, grandchildren, Andy (Jolene) Evans, Kansas City, Brandy (Scott) Wilson, Topeka, LeAnn (Kris) Dupuy, Chanute, Donald (Michelle) McIntosh, Chanute, and Nautica Hart, Chanute, great-grandchildren, Kayla Wilson, Linzie Dupuy, Kalani Dupuy, Adalay Evans, Leela Evans, Remingtyn McIntosh, Dillynn McIntosh, Hunter McIntosh and Waylon Hart. His parents, brothers, sister and grandchildren await him in heaven. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
