Althea Carrie Parks, age 90 formerly of Chanute, KS, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 in Rose Hill, KS. Althea was born on April 26, 1929 in Tescott, KS the daughter of Lovell and Pansy (Montgomery) Clinton. She graduated from Holyrood High School in 1947 and from the University of Kansas in 1951. She married Lillard Parks on July 1, 1951 in Hoisington, KS.
Althea enjoyed art work and painting during her free time. She would always follow KU basketball and would watch it when she could. God and church meant a lot to Althea and she put her God, church and family ahead of everything else in her life. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, AAUW (American Association of University Women) and the First Christian Church in Chanute. She also served on the Board of the Parks and Recreation in Chanute.

Children: Steven L. Parks and wife, Cheryl, Brad C. Parks and wife, Kit, Susan K. Ostrander and husband, Bion; 5 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lillard and sister, Lois Hoffman Stoltenberg.
A visitation will be on Friday, September 13, 2019 from 5-7 pm at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel in Chanute. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11 am at the First Christian Church in Chanute, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made to First Christian Church in Chanute or Grace Church in Wichita and may be mailed to the funeral home.
