Harry Clinton “H.C.” Goodson, age 73, of Edwards, Missouri passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 (their 51st wedding anniversary) at his home after a long courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on January 11, 1946 in Creighton, MO the son of Harry Cornelius Goodson and Monta Louella (Staley) Goodson. Harry grew up and graduated high school in Creighton. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1964 with two high school buddies. In 1965 he went to Vietnam and landed in Da Nang as a member of Bravo Co. 1st. Bat. 9th. Marines at 19 years old. They were the first American troops to be designated as “combat.” After Vietnam he served at Parris Island, SC as marksmanship instructor and was on the Marine Corps rifle and pistol team.

After his honorable discharge in 1966 he returned to Kansas City and began work with Continental Airlines in baggage and later air freight. In 1969 he began working for Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, MO as a paint sprayer and then as one of the youngest foreman and then superintendent for the paint division. He retired in 1999 after 30 years and 1 day as superintendent of the body division.

On June 22, 1968 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Linda Jean McMillen at the Zion Methodist Church in rural Chanute, KS. They made their home in Kansas City North, MO until moving to Kearney in 1985 and then to Edwards in 2001 on The Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed scuba diving, hunting, and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Kansas City Fishmasters, the Index Lodge #54 AF & AM of Garden City, MO and the Warsaw Christian Church. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and VFW. He loved his country, being with his grandchildren, spending time with family and traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Peggy Gregg and her husband, Donald Gene, Joy Salmon and her husband, Leonard, brother-in-law George Moyer, niece Mary Lou Chambers and husband, Ralph, and nephew Glen Moyer.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home, and sister Connie Moyer of Franklin, TN. His 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren are daughter Kimbarly Medlin and her husband, Mark, of Burleson, TX and their children Hallie, Lindsay, Paige and Hannah, son Matthew Goodson and his wife, Pandee, of Licking, MO and their children Jessie and Levi, and their grandchildren Elijah, Adyn, Autumn and Alyuss. Included are beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-las, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, hunting and fishing buddies.

Funeral Services for Harry Goodson will be held at 10 am Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm with Masonic Services to begin at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Interment and Military Rites will be Thursday, June 27 at 2 pm in the Parker Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
