At Thursday’s meeting of the Neosho County Community College Board of Trustees, a budget hearing was held due to the re-publication of the budget. The college had a larger than expected transfer to the vocational fund and as a result, had to reprint the budget. This in no way affects the mill levy, but is merely a “transparency of government” issue that is part of state law, said Dr. Brian Inbody, president. No one spoke at the hearing.

Commissioners plan county-wide bridge tour next week

ERIE -- Neosho County commissioners met in regular session Friday and approved a tour of county bridges for next Friday, June 22, following next week’s meeting.

City accepts 2011 audit

Chanute city commissioners approved the adoption of the 2011 audit at their regular meeting Monday. The audit was presented at the May 29 meeting by the public accounting firm of Jarred, Gilmore and Phillips. State statute requires municipalities with receipts or bonds in excess of $275,000 to have an annual audit prepared.

HUMBOLDT — Patrick Haire’s cabinet making business at 118 8th street in Humboldt was open for tours on Sunday during Humboldt’s Civil War Days.
