Launch party Sunday for Vogts’ CD
Sisters Abbey and Maggie Vogts, Erie, have been singing and performing from the ages of 4 and 11.
They, along with their older sister, were members for five years of a community singing group called Saving Grace.

Dr. Harwood remembered as colleague, friend

Local veterinarian Robert “Bob” Harwood, who died Wednesday, was involved in many organizations in the community and nationwide.
Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center CEO Dennis Franks knew Harwood for six years. Harwood was the chairman of the Board of Trustees when Franks came to work at NMRMC.

Balloting begins for General Election
Advance voting for the General Election has begun in Neosho County and runs through Monday, Nov. 5 at noon. County Clerk Randal Neely said so far 42 residents have voted early at the Erie location, and 383 advanced ballots have been cast by mail.

Mayor tells court town raised taxes because of theft
WICHITA – A former city clerk of the City of Thayer in Neosho County has been sentenced to 12 months and a day for embezzling $120,000, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said on Wednesday. She was ordered to pay $120,000 in restitution. At sentencing, Tony Vining, the mayor of Thayer, told the court the small city has had to raise taxes because of the theft.

Emily Kasprzak, originally of Parsons, started in August at the beginning of the fall semester.

EPA emissions report favorable for Chanute

On Monday, the EPA’s Kansas City Office released its final report on Particulate Matter emissions in Chanute. After seven months of monitoring for coarse and fine particle emissions around the city, the study concluded that “data collected to date has all been less than the NAAQS (National Ambient Air Quality Standard) allowances.
