Local house fire claims life of Chanute man
A house fire at 909 S. Larson claimed the life of a Chanute man early Sunday morning. Michael Grayson, 21, was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived at the scene at around 4 a.m., said detective Raymond Hale in a police department statement. Kansas labor report shows improvement; but not area counties
The unemployment rate in the state rose in January, but the more accurate seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell. According to January estimates from the Kansas Department of Labor, the unemployment rate in Kansas was 6.4 percent, down from 7.5 percent a year ago but up from 6 percent in December.
