Bryant’s Furniture, a longtime Chanute family business, can now be found online.
The website, http://bryantsfurnitureonline.com, allows customers to purchase furniture online and access to more products than are in the store. The site went live April 14 and is currently receiving 200 unique visitors per day.

In the spirit of the Fourth of July Chanute resident Brenda Williams researched her uncle’s service in World War II.
Though he died in 1977, Williams remembers Finnis Oakley Reed, a longtime resident of Chanute, as a gentle man.

Chanute’s library busiest in June

The circulation total is up from last year in the Southeast Kansas Library system, which includes the Chanute Public Library.
Of the 23 libraries that have been in the Consortium since January 2011, 16 have seen an increase in circulation measured from January to the end of June.

The police department has taken several reports from both businesses and individuals in the area of counterfeit currency being passed, in different dollar denominations.

The second Chanute Journey through the Jungle sprint triathlon will be Saturday, August 18.

Nine minor fire calls on the Fourth; Allen County passes burn ban order
The Chanute Fire Department responded to nine fireworks-related calls July 4 and one the morning of July 5.
No injuries were reported, though calls continued through the official Chanute fireworks display at Santa Fe Lake.
The official display went off without any problems, fire department officials said.
In Allen County, commissioners passed a burn ban for unincorporated areas that will go in effect today.
