Safari Museum holds New Year’s gala at the Venue
The new Venue will be host to a New Year’s Eve party for Chanute and the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum.
Casino Night on the Serengeti will be held at the Venue New Year’s Eve.
Dinner will start at 7:30. Tickets are $50 for couples and $25 for individuals, and all ticket sales benefit the museum. Ticket cost includes dinner and starting money for the gaming tables.

Injury accident involves black cow
An injury accident occurred in Allen County on the corner of U.S. 59 and Missouri Road on Saturday.¬†The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Dinah M. Giefer, 64, of St. Paul was southbound on U.S. 59 around 5:43 p.m., driving a 2006 Toyota when she struck a black cow in the road.¬†

The 31st International Tasting Tea will bring a taste of Madagascar to the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum.
The event will be open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Safari Museum, in the depot lobby. It is put on by the Neosho Valley Busy Bees 4-H Club, Chanute. The Thompson family has been involved in the 4-H club for several generations, and involved in the Tasting Tea since its beginnings.

A new flag will be dedicated at the Chanute High School gymnasium between the girls’ and boys’ basketball games Tuesday.
