Thayer’s Postmaster retiring
THAYER — A familiar face at the Thayer Post Office is going away, effective Jan. 1, with the retirement of Postmaster Nancy Thornton, who has long been a mainstay in federal service for 34 years. Tribune staff Merle Kelly Ford owner Dick Kelly got a call he wasn’t expecting early Wednesday morning. Bill Baker, custodian at the car dealership, phoned him at 6:30 a.m. to inform Kelly about a break-in. Among the missing items were two vehicles, a 2011 Mustang and 2011 F-150 truck, valued at about $80,000. ERIE — The Erie City Council agreed to reduce the retainage fee for a housing subdivision infrastructure project during its Monday meeting. The council agreed to decrease the retainage requirement from 10 percent to 5 percent for the Burress Addition project at the request of Beachner Construction, St. Paul.
