413 Foundation to debut flag in memory of Slanes

A new flag will be dedicated at the Chanute High School gymnasium between the girls’ and boys’ basketball games Tuesday.
The flag, 18 feet by 12 feet, rolls down from the ceiling of the CHS gymnasium, to where a tall person standing on the floor could touch it, according to CHS Principal Kent Wire.

Accidental rifle discharge ends life of Chanute teen
A young Chanute man lost his life Tuesday evening in an apparent hunting accident on his family’s property.
Neosho County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 6:30 p.m. to the property near 11050 220th Rd. Jake Galemore, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a sophomore at Chanute High School.

In the wake of the tragic accident that took the life of Chanute High School sophomore Jake Galemore, the school is doing all it can to help his fellow students cope with the loss.

Ex-jailer charged with unlawful sexual relations
Thomas Becker, a former Neosho County Jail employee, was charged with three counts of unlawful sexual relations Nov. 29.
