Steps taken to improve local truancy cases

USD 413 and the Neosho County District Court have begun working on improving how truancy is handled between the school district and district court.
Neosho County Attorney Melissa Dugan said truancy cases are filed as soon as the county attorney’s office receives a report from the high school, but there have been problems with truancy reporting.

Local archers compete in Hays meet
On March 31, 18 local youth archers attended a meet in Hays.
Archers shoot three rounds of five arrows at two different distances of 10 and 15 meters. A perfect score would be 300. This sport is broken by grade divisions, 4th-6th grade, 7th -8th grade and 9th -12th grade.
More than 250 archers competed in this meet with the top five in each division qualifying for nationals in Kentucky.

HUMBOLDT — Beginning this weekend, Humboldt’s Downtown Action Team will start its work on renovating the bandstand in Humboldt’s City Square Park.
The DAT discussed its current and future plans at a press conference Monday morning held at Stacy Cakes, a new bakery on the Humboldt Square.

State to furlough court workers
