Robert Bruce McPherson, 80, rural Altoona, died Friday, April 22, 2011. He was born Jan. 18, 1931 in Fredonia, the son of Silas Oliver and Jennie Garner McPherson. He was a 1949 graduate of Fredonia High School. Robert served in the United States Navy, 1948-1950. On Feb. 16, 1963 in Wichita, Robert married Eileen Nitschke. She survives. of the home. A 53-year-old Erie woman died Wednesday afternoon when her vehicle was struck by a train. According to Kansas Highway Patrol reports, Nancy E. Smith’s 1992 Pontiac was parked at 2:54 p.m. on train tracks 1.5 miles east and 1 mile north of U.S. 59/K-47 junction near Erie in Neosho County.
