Tuesday, Oct. 28 Tri-Valley Developmental Services hosted Disability Mentoring Day, inviting high school students from the surrounding area to participate. Twenty five students from Iola and 19 from Chanute took part. Frances Ruth McKinley, Pauls Valley, Okla., passed from this life on November 3, 2008 in Pauls Valley, Okla., at the age of 85 years.
She was born to Leslie E. and Mattie Fuhrman Bacon on Sept. 2, 1923, in Moran where she grew up on a farm and graduated from high school.
On Jan. 17, 1942, Ruth married Clifford Burtnett in Iola. He preceded her in death. On Nov. 24, 1990, Ruth married Vernon McKinley in Ponca City, Okla. He survives.
