Royster Middle School
Although wrestling is a sport at Royster, Chanute also has a wrestling program that operates according to USA Wrestling guidelines.
In school, Royster sponsors a wrestling team for seventh and eighth graders. Some of the kids on Royster’s team have wrestled in the Chanute USA Wrestling league in the years before seventh grade, but some experienced wrestling for the first time at school.

Aurora was born in Chanute on July 31, 1923 the daughter of Martin and Maria Navarette Ramirez.
She was united in marriage to Felipe Gutierrez on Oct. 31, 1949 in Neodesha.¬†He preceded her in death.

Col. Norman B. Gates, 76, Topeka, formerly of Lawrence, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. He was born on Aug. 7, 1932 to Charles and Mary Gates.

Dale “Dutch” Biele, 94, formerly of Chanute, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Pinnacle Ridge Nursing Home, Olathe.
He was born in Bentonville, Ark., on Dec. 19, 1913, to Fred and Dora Spivey Biele.
He married Rosemary Cooper on May 24, 1937, in Iola. She died on Oct. 25, 2006.
