Evelyn Suzanne “Sue” DeSilva, 80, Lawrence, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at her home.
Sue was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Feb. 2, 1931, the daughter of Dr. Clarence J. and Lorah M. McCune Best. She attended Neosho County Community College and Texas Christian University, where she met and married Roger McAuley, Sr. They later divorced.
She was united in marriage to Manuel DeSilva in 1981. He preceded her in death in 2003.

New guidebook spotlights Wonders
The “8 Wonders of Kansas Guidebook,” the latest book published by the Inman-based Kansas Sampler Foundation, is now found in retail stores around the state. The guidebook is a 272-page book showcasing more than 800 photos of the 216 entries in the 8 Wonders of Kansas contests. Margie Ellen Carter, 85, Humboldt, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Arrowood Lane Care Facility in Humboldt.
Margie was born in Earlton on Nov. 21, 1925, the daughter of Claude and Mable Wiles Carter. She graduated from Altoona Rural High School in 1943.

Virginia Lee Koester, 80, Chanute, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Virginia was born in Chanute on Jan. 12, 1931, the daughter of Lois Isabelle Vandegrift Koester and Mr. Koester. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1948.

Billie Marie Scott, 82, Fredonia, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born July 18, 1928 in Wichita, the daughter of Rex and Pearl Van Dyke Showers. She was a homemaker.
On May 10, 1947 Billie was united in marriage to Jim Shue. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1986. In January 1992, she married Ben Scott and he survives.
