Marjorie was born in Benedict on June 9, 1931, the daughter of Leroy and Lena Varner Lewellen. She attended schools in Benedict.

East of Chanute hit hard
The brunt of Tuesday’s night storm that brought winds upwards of 74 mph was east of Chanute, said Neosho County Sheriff Jim Keath.
“The heaviest was a couple miles east of Chanute, and it basically made a track northeast across the county,” Keath said.
