L. Alberta McCoy, 93, longtime Chanute resident, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 in McKinney, Texas after a long illness. She was a lifetime resident of the Erie and Chanute, before moving to McKinney, Texas in 2008 to be near her daughter.
Alberta was born on Jan. 30, 1919 in Erie, the daughter of Ernest and Margaret Alice Harral Hurford.
She was united in marriage to Clifford McCoy on March 23, 1939 in Iola. He preceded her in death in 1986.

Alva W. Boice, 91, longtime resident of Fredonia, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Fredonia Regional Hospital.  He was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Rover, Mo., the son of David and Cora Davis Boice.

Alice Leora Lee, 71, rural Parsons, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health. 
She was born Nov. 26, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa to Albert B. and Alice Olive Mael Noe. She grew up and attended school in Iowa where she graduated high school. In the mid 1970s, she moved to Parsons where she had lived since. Through the years, she worked as a cook at various nursing homes until retiring in 2001.

Cindy Knudsen Cohee, 45, Chanute, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Heritage Nursing Home in Chanute.
Cindy was born in Chanute on Oct. 13, 1966, the daughter of Edward and Suntok Li McGinnis. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1985. 
She married Robert Knudsen who preceded her in death. On July 4, 2008 she married Chuck Cohee in Iola.

Rosemary McNeill, 80, Overland Park, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
Rosemary was born Nov. 23, 1931 in Erie, to Paul and Louise Gallagher Lowe. She spent her formative years in Chanute. Rosemary married Bill McNeill, from Fronten0ac, in 1949 and moved to Kansas City, where they raised their two children. Rosemary worked for the Kansas City Eye Clinic in Overland Park for more than 30 years.

Madge Dunaway Schell, 84, Iola, formerly of Chanute, died Wednesday, April 4, 3012 at the Allen County Hospital.
She graduated from Chanute High School in 1946. She and her husband, Joe Schell, operated Schell’s Dry Cleaners in Iola for a number of years. He died in 1999.
