William J. “Bill” Head, 79, beloved husband, “Opi,” brother, uncle and friend, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at a local hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Independence, the youngest of five children of Walter and Ferne McKay Head. He grew up during the Great Depression on a farm near Thayer.

She was born May 23, 1911, in Hallam, Neb., to William W. and Lyida Glebe Vitousek. She attended local schools.
She married Geard J. Quathamer on Nov. 20, 1930, in El Dorado. He died in 1969.
She was employed as a certified nurse’s aide in Erie, Chanute and Iola. She was a member of the Christian Church in LaHarpe.
