Ruth Utley, 72, Humboldt, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Heritage Care Center, Chanute.
Ruth was born in Wichita on Sept. 21, 1939 the daughter of James and Ruth Conner Audiss Dalton. She graduated from Iola High School in 1957.
She worked as a housekeeping supervisor for Crossroads Hotel, Iola, for many years, and had later worked as an assembler for Tramec of Iola until flooding overtook the plant.

After a lengthy illness, Jessie “Ilene” Roles, 76, died Saturday, June 2 at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Rogers Roles, of the home; three children, David Roles, Chanute, Richard Roles, of the home, and Julie Roles-Holroyd, of the home; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ralph A. Holland, 73, Fredonia, formerly of Osborne, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. He was born Sept. 12, 1938 in Rivermines, Mo., the son of Everett and Evelyn Smith Holland. Ralph was a 1956 graduate of Fredonia High School and attended the University of Kansas, where he played football. Thomas Edward “Tom” Slater, 89, Chanute, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.
Tom was born on May 18, 1923 in Coffeyville, the son of Roy Whitcomb and Lucile Penn Slater. He attended schools in Faulkner, Kan.
He served his country in the United States Navy from January 1944 to November 1946.

John was born on March 25, 1963 in Oregon, the son of Douglas and Mary Lilly Ammons. He moved to the Chanute area in 1987.
