WEB UPDATE: CHS events postponed
The weather has caused the area’s sporting events to be called off. For starters, the CHS basketball games scheduled for Friday night at Columbus were postponed. CHS Athletic Director Eric Methvin said the games will be made up on Monday night in Columbus. Next, the CHS wrestling invite, schedule for Saturday, has been postponed. No make-up date was announced.

CHANUTE—The Royster Middle School boys basketball teams were in action on Monday night, as the Rockets hosted the Columbus Titans.
In seventh grade action, the A team hit some late free throws to seal a 33-26 win over Columbus. For Royster, Derek Sharp scored 11 points and Loren Dillman added nine. Colton Erikson scored seven, Ethin Van Anne added four and Gus Walker chipped in two points. The A team is now 5-4 on the season.

CHANUTE—Jeff Williams walked into the Chanute High School gymnasium and was immediately mobbed by former students, former co-workers and old friends.
The head coach of the Joplin Eagles, Williams grew up in Chanute and spent 27 years as a coach and educator at CHS. He left last May to go to Joplin so he could get back into coaching basketball.
The last few days were a homecoming for Williams and his family.
