Tribune staff Chanute athletes fared very well at the 2011 Kansas Kids State Championships in Topeka this past weekend. The Chanute High School baseball and softball games scheduled for Thursday at Pittsburg were postponed due to the weather. The tennis meet at Coffeyville was postponed and rescheduled for April 19. The golf meet at Independence was not called off.

CHANUTE — The Neosho County Community College baseball team swept Independence on Tuesday, winning game one 6-1 and game two 11-3. The Panthers are now 20-8 on the season and 12-4 in the conference.
