Erie 2nd at Marmaton Valley Tournament
Erie placed 2nd at the Marmaton Valley Golf Tournament held at Cedar Brook Golf Course Iola, Monday. The contest was delayed by weather, causing darkness to shorten the tournament from 18 to 9 holes for scoring.
Jayhawk-Linn was the winner of the tournament with a score of 178. Erie was 2nd with a score of 182, followed by Pleasanton with 203, Oswego 215, Uniontown 223, Marmaton Valley 228. Chetopa and Yates Center didn’t have a team score.
Coach sees improvement in Chanute golf team at Pittsburg
PITTSBURG — Even though the Chanute golf team finished 10th place out of 11 teams at the invitational golf tournament in Pittsburg Tuesday afternoon, Coach Bill Woodard felt that they played a little better overall. JV golf finishes in 4th at Girard
The Chanute JV golf team came in fourth place at the Girard Invitational on Thursday. Chanute had 221 strokes, one point more than third place Caney. Labette County won the event with 189, while Independence came in second with 192.
Karter Krokstrom and Dylan Wolverton tied for the lead among Chanute JV golfers, each getting 53 scores, while Nick Carman ended up with 55. Javyn Krenzel had 60 strokes and Dylan Allen finished with 62.

PARSONS — The Chanute softball team’s games against Parsons on Thursday evening were not pretty, according to the team’s coach Maria Hernandez.
“We had walks when we didn’t need walks, we had errors when we didn’t need errors, we missed batting signs and missed pitching spots, and we did not hit like we can hit,” Hernandez said.

The Chanute Swim Team is changing locations, and will now compete as a public swim team at the Maring Aquatic Center in Chanute.

The track team from Royster Middle School hosted its first dual meets of the season Tuesday against Pittsburg. According to girls track coach, Teresa Taylor, this was a great first track meet to get the 7th graders used to the procedures for reporting to events and running in heats.
