Royster competes at huge Iola meet
The Royster track team was one of 18 teams in attendance at a meet in Iola on Tuesday night . The 7th grade boys finished 9th with 25.5 points. The 8th grade boys finished 6th place with 30 points. According to the school’s boys track coach Dallas Masoner, in a meet this big, the points get really spread out.

PAOLA — A short-handed roster, fielding errors and leaving runners on base doomed the Chanute Blue Comets baseball team in its Tuesday night visit to Paola. The Comets lost to the Panthers 16-7 and 3-2.

Erie 2nd at Marmaton Valley Tournament
Erie placed 2nd at the Marmaton Valley Golf Tournament held at Cedar Brook Golf Course Iola, Monday. The contest was delayed by weather, causing darkness to shorten the tournament from 18 to 9 holes for scoring.
Jayhawk-Linn was the winner of the tournament with a score of 178. Erie was 2nd with a score of 182, followed by Pleasanton with 203, Oswego 215, Uniontown 223, Marmaton Valley 228. Chetopa and Yates Center didn’t have a team score.

PITTSBURG — Even though the Chanute golf team finished 10th place out of 11 teams at the invitational golf tournament in Pittsburg Tuesday afternoon, Coach Bill Woodard felt that they played a little better overall. The Chanute JV golf team came in fourth place at the Girard Invitational on Thursday. Chanute had 221 strokes, one point more than third place Caney. Labette County won the event with 189, while Independence came in second with 192.

The Chanute Swim Team is changing locations, and will now compete as a public swim team at the Maring Aquatic Center in Chanute.
