PARSONS — Both the boys and girls track teams from Chanute High School participated in a track meet on Thursday in Parsons. The Chanute girls came in fourth place with 89.5 points, while the boys were in sixth place with 50 points. Both the boys and the girls side was dominated by Labette County.

Lady Comets lose two in Parsons
PARSONS — The Chanute softball team’s games against Parsons on Thursday evening were not pretty, according to the team’s coach Maria Hernandez.
“We had walks when we didn’t need walks, we had errors when we didn’t need errors, we missed batting signs and missed pitching spots, and we did not hit like we can hit,” Hernandez said.

Chanute swim team changing locations and looking for participants
The Chanute Swim Team is changing locations, and will now compete as a public swim team at the Maring Aquatic Center in Chanute.
An informational meeting is being held on Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m. to discuss the upcoming swim season. Anyone who likes to swim is encouraged to come and hear about the team.

The Chanute JV softball team resoundingly beat its rivals from Iola 29-6 in the first game of a doubleheader against the Iola Fillies on Tuesday, before tying Iola 8-8 in the second game.

Royster runs away with first dual track meet
The track team from Royster Middle School hosted its first dual meets of the season Tuesday against Pittsburg. According to girls track coach, Teresa Taylor, this was a great first track meet to get the 7th graders used to the procedures for reporting to events and running in heats.

Erie golf third at Prairie Ridge
Erie High School hosted an invitational golf tournament at Prairie Ridge Golf Course on Monday and finished third.
Caney won team honors for a second time this season with a team score of 342. Jayhawk Linn was second with a 354, followed by Erie at 386, Pleasanton 397, Neodesha 427, Uniontown 436, and Oswego 438. Marmaton Valley had no team score.
