The Chanute High School wrestling team had six athletes qualify for the state wrestling tournament at Saturday's Class 4A regional. Troy Clark and Sam Son both won regional titles, Clark at 135 and Son at 152 pounds. Tim Wrestler and Jared McComb both took second, falling in title matches at 125 and 189, respectively. CHS girls fall to Indy 61-44
Independence defeated Chanute 61-44 in varsity girls action on Friday night. Chanute was within striking distance all game long, but could never get over the hump. Jordan Wiltse converted an old-fashioned three-point play and Chanute cut Indy's lead to 48-43 with 3:21 to play. The Comets would get no closer, however. CHANUTE—The Royster Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team ended its season in dramatic fashion on Thursday night. Aaron Haviland drilled a 25-footer with no time left to give the Rockets a 20-19 win over Pittsburg.
