Panthers punctured by Johnson County sweep
OVERLAND PARK — The nationally ranked NCCC baseball team hit a rough patch last weekend, as it was swept in four games by the Johnson County Cavaliers. The Panthers (29-12) lost Friday’s games 2-1 and 4-3, and then were defeated 1-0 and 2-1 on Saturday.

The struggling NCCC softball team picked up two much needed wins Friday afternoon in Chanute. The wins were number 11 and 12 on the season for the Lady Panthers. After the victories, Neosho County’s record now stands at 12-25.

JV golf finishes in 4th at Girard
The Chanute JV golf team came in fourth place at the Girard Invitational on Thursday. Chanute had 221 strokes, one point more than third place Caney. Labette County won the event with 189, while Independence came in second with 192.

Lady Comets lose two in Parsons
PARSONS — The Chanute softball team’s games against Parsons on Thursday evening were not pretty, according to the team’s coach Maria Hernandez.
“We had walks when we didn’t need walks, we had errors when we didn’t need errors, we missed batting signs and missed pitching spots, and we did not hit like we can hit,” Hernandez said.

The Chanute Swim Team is changing locations, and will now compete as a public swim team at the Maring Aquatic Center in Chanute.

The Chanute JV softball team resoundingly beat its rivals from Iola 29-6 in the first game of a doubleheader against the Iola Fillies on Tuesday, before tying Iola 8-8 in the second game.

Royster runs away with first dual track meet
The track team from Royster Middle School hosted its first dual meets of the season Tuesday against Pittsburg. According to girls track coach, Teresa Taylor, this was a great first track meet to get the 7th graders used to the procedures for reporting to events and running in heats.

Erie High School hosted an invitational golf tournament at Prairie Ridge Golf Course on Monday and finished third.
