Lois Williams: Chanute's first state track champ
Jason Peake Tribune Sports Editor Way back in 1923, Lois Williams became Chanute High School’s first-ever state champion in track and field. Williams won the boys 100-meter dash in 10.2 seconds and also won the 220 with a time of 22.4. Williams was also selected to represent the state of Kansas at a national track meet in Chicago.
