Varsity baseball and softball to play Coffeyville later today
The varsity baseball and softball games that were scheduled to be played here in Chanute on Monday against Coffeyville were again postponed until today at 4:30 p.m. These contests were originally scheduled for Thursday, May 2, but were postponed by stormy weather. Now, these games are set to made up this afternoon, with the baseball team playing at Katy Park and the softball team at Santa Fe Park.

The basketball coaches at Chanute High School will be holding their youth basketball camps at the beginning of June. Erie golf was busy on Tuesday as both the varsity and the junior varsity squads competed in meets in different towns.

Chanute tennis star Wendt is Baker-bound
A three-time state qualifier for the Chanute tennis team will be taking her talents to Baldwin City next year. Madison Wendt signed her letter of intent on Wednesday afternoon, to play tennis at Baker University. Wendt’s family, doubles partner Alexis Thuston, Chanute tennis coach Mike De La Torre, and Baker University coach Joe Ahmadian were all in attendance when Wendt announced her intent to attend the liberal arts university.

Richey’s perfect game boosts Humboldt softball to sweep of Cherryvale
A perfect game pitched by Courtney Richey helped the Humboldt softball team swept Cherryvale in road contests on Monday. The 17-6 and 18-0 victories improved the Lady Cubs’ record to 6-2.
