The shot occurred on the 96 yard par three 17th hole using a pitching wedge. Tribune staff The Quarry Stone Junior Golf Team from Chanute fared well last Thursday at the SEK tournament hosted by Independence Country Club. Short-handed Chanute Sharks fall to Coffeyville
COFFEYVILLE —The Chanute Sharks Swim Team, or at least part of them, traveled to Coffeyville on Wednesday for the third meet of the year. The Sharks were short-handed for the meet. Summer schedules and a couple of illnesses cut the Sharks team nearly in half. CHANUTE — The SEK Sluggers made the area proud by winning the Kansas USSSA 14U State Championship. The Sluggers played last weekend in Topeka. The softball tournament began Friday night and continued through Sunday afternoon. The SEK Sluggers features girls from Chanute, Humboldt, Iola and Nevada (Mo.).
