DODGE CITY — After delay after delay the Class 4A state golf meet was held Wednesday at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City. It was postponed twice at the original course in Winfield.
Chanute junior Cole Wheeler earned an individual medal with a top 10 finish. Wheeler tied for sixth with a 78 and lost in a playoff for the sixth place medal and took seventh.
Southeast Kansas League golfers Nicholas King, Fort Scott, and Jack Leake, Altamont-Labette County, shot 76 and tied for third.
Caden Vanlandingham of Wichita-Trinity Academy won the tournament with a 73 and his team also placed first.
Fort Scott placed fourth and Labette County seventh.
Other individual scores for Chanute: Freshman Drayton Cleaver, 84, 22nd; junior Brendon Gahagan 102, 71st; junior Jacob Adams 104, 75th; junior Jack Hendrickson 107, 77th; junior Eric Beltran 117, 80th.
