Gary Lee Van Gotten, 64, Chanute, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City.
Gary was born in Independence on August 24, 1946, the son of Frank C. and Ruth L. Edgerle Van Gotten.
He was united in marriage to Jacqueline K. Ratliff on June 17, 1972 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She survives, of the home.
Gary was retired.
Along with his wife Jacqueline, he is survived by a son, Garrett and Alicia Van Gotten, Merriam; daughters, Anjanette and Bill Ladd, Olathe, Bridget Van Gotten, Olathe, Jacqueline Smoot, Rochester, Minn., Rachelle Van Gotten, Olathe, and Suzanne and Jacob LaTurner, Pittsburg; grandchildren, Ashlynn, Kiley, Trey, Blaine and Jacqueline Smoot, Jenna and Jordan Ladd, and expecting Ava LaTurner due Jan. 31, 2011; four brothers, Charles and Dana Van Gotten, Hutchinson, Frank and Jeannie Van Gotten, Chanute, Adrian Van Gotten, Chanute, and Ronnie and Janice Van Gotten, Chanute; two sisters, Jacque and Don Bledsoe, Kansas City, Mo., and Vicki and Donn Smith, Olathe; and mother-in-law, Anna and Robert Huerter, Chanute; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening at the church.
Memorials in his name may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church and may be left with the funeral home.
