Charles Lee Matile, 77, Yates Center, died Saturday, December 27, 2008, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

He was born March 5, 1931, in Eureka to Roscoe and Viola Bohard Matile.

He served in the U.S. Army from January 1952 to December 1953 after serving in Korea.

He married Rita Ann King on June 8, 1954, in Bentonville, Ark. She died on Oct. 31, 1984. He married Marcia Simmons in Yates Center on May 14, 1985. She survives.

He owned a cattle business and was a part-time carpenter.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Other survivors include two sons, Charles Jr. and Robert Allen Matile; two daughters, Tammie Sievers and Pam Tipton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Matile; and a granddaughter.

Cremation has taken place and a private burial for family will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center.
