Ophelia was born in Elsmore, Kansas, on October 25, 1918, the daughter of Olof F. and Hulda E. (Peterson) Krokstrom. She attended school in Elsmore.
She was united in marriage to Jr. T. Zimmerman on June 17, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1966.
Ophelia worked at the Parsons Ammunition Plant, Kustom Signals, Nu-Wa Industries and as a cook at Murray Hill School.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Elks, and was Past Matron of the Sunflower Chapter, O.E.S.
Ophelia is survived by two daughters, Audrey Young and her husband Harvey, Erie, and Deb Jones and her husband Rick, Chanute; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, DeWayne Krokstrom, Independence, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.
Memorials in her name may be made to Cherry Street Youth Center or Education Fund for The Children of Greg Trout and may be left with the funeral home.
