Wanda Lee Grizzle, 79, Chanute, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Wanda was born March 19, 1931, on a farm just southwest of Iola, the daughter of Thomas Henry and Jessie Althea McMulin Larkey. The family moved to a farm northeast of LaHarpe and she graduated from LaHarpe High School.

On Nov. 13, 1949, Wanda married Virgil L. Grizzle and they made their home near Odense. In 1964 they moved to Wichita and in 1969 they made their home in Chanute. She was a licensed beautician and operated Wanda’s Beauty Shop until retiring.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chanute.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Virgil Grizzle, of the home; a son, Ernie L. Grizzle and wife, Glenna, Chanute; a daughter, Colleen Brownewell and husband, Claude, Parsons; a brother, Walter Larkey and wife, Carmen, San Leandro, Calif.; a sister, Leora Foster and husband, Ernie, Bel Aire; four grandchildren, Thomas Grizzle, Scott Bradburn, Sarah Nordt and Stacia Meek; and three great-granddaughters.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. The Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Chanute and may be left with the funeral home.
