Sue Douglas, 85, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital in Leavenworth.
Sue was born Nov. 19, 1925 in Henderson, Tenn., the daughter of Roy and Nezzie Tankersly Howell.
She attended college and became legal secretary before attaining her LPN. Sue worked for various hospitals and nursing homes over the years.
On June 21, 1965 Sue was united in marriage to Harley Wayne Douglas in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1988. After Harley’s death Sue moved away from the Yates Center area and eventually moved to Leavenworth, where she was a member of the Leavenworth Church of Christ.
She is survived by four children, Jon Vick, Rapid City, S.D., Cindy Hudson, Hutchinson, Sandra Orth, Wichita, and Kathy Bockrath, Lansing. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Sue was also preceded in death by a son Buddy Wayne Douglas.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today, Dec. 4 at the First Baptist Church in Yates Center. Interment will follow in Yates Center Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Leavenworth Church of Christ and sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 188, Yates Center, KS 66783.
