Florentino “Tino” Flores, 83, Humboldt, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010 at the Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt.
Tino was born in Humboldt on March 14, 1927, the son of Socorro and Andrea Vidal Flores. He attended Humboldt schools.
He served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1948.
Tino was united in marriage to Rebecca Fajardo on Sept. 9, 1950 in Parsons. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1982. He later married Caryl Beth Parrish on June 22, 1984. They divorced in 2008.
He worked for Monarch Cement Company for almost 40 years, retiring in May of 1987.
Tino was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt, and the V.F.W.
He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Tino is survived by two sons, Christopher Flores and his wife, Jean, Humboldt, and Paul Flores and his wife, Dana, Wichita; grandchildren, Sara Matheys, Olathe, Anna Flores, Olathe, and Alex Flores, Lawrence; a great-grandson, Anthony Wells, Olathe; and siblings, Josephine Jimenez, Bartlesville, Okla., and Antonia Alonzo, Chanute.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Lyle Chris Flores, a sister, Illaria Perez, and a brother, Cruz Flores.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
The family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. this evening at Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.
Memorials in his name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Window Restoration or St. Patrick Catholic School and may be left with the funeral home.
