Donald E. Foster, 82, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.

Don was born in Humboldt on July 27, 1928, the son of Charles A. and Holland Summers Foster. He attended Humboldt Schools.

He was united in marriage to Virginia Lee on July 24, 1947. She preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2004.

Don worked for Monarch Cement Plant for 43 years until his retirement.

After his retirement, he enjoyed camping and traveling to Mercedes, Texas, where he lived before returning to Humboldt in 2006.

Don is survived by a daughter, Gail Lynn Collins and her husband, Mike, Thayer; a son, Bruce Dean Foster and his wife, Shannon, of Burleson, Texas; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother Richard Foster and his wife, Ruby, Humboldt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia, a son, Cris Allen Foster, and a sister, Pauline Buskirk.

Cremation has taken place.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.

Memorials in his name may be made to Horizon Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
