Lola Breiner Daniels Giertz, 96, Chanute, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Lola was born in Chanute on June 29, 1914, the daughter of Henry and Ida Friederich Breiner. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1932 and also attended Chanute Junior College.
She was united in marriage to Bill Daniels on June 3, 1935 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1967. She married Bob Giertz on March 7, 1970 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1988.
Lola worked in busin ess management and sales. She managed the Bella Hess store and worked at the Chanute Stockyards.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Ladies Altar Society, the American Legion Post 170 Ladies Auxiliary, and Cecil J. Meeker V.F.W. Post 1654 Ladies Auxiliary.
Lola is survived by her son, Dean Daniels and his wife, Babs, Cleveland, Miss.; stepson Bob Giertz, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Blue Springs, Mo.; grandchildren, Tempa Fleming and her husband, Hal, and Kendell Roberts and her husband, Brad; stepgrandson James Giertz and his wife, Sonja; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Trevor Worsham, Griffith Roberts, Kassidy, Kailyn and Carson Giertz; brothers, Clyde Breiner, Chanute. and Earl Breiner Vista, Calif.,; sister, Mary Robb and her husband, Kenneth, of Tulsa, Okla.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Hugh (Eunice) Breiner, Chanute; and dear friend, Chris Brazil, Chanute.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Bill Daniels and Bob Giertz, and brothers, Hugh Breiner and Oscar Breiner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. today, Jan. 20 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
Rosary was recited 6:30 p.m.Wednesday at the church, followed by visitation.
Memorials in her name may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital and may be left with the funeral home.
