Pauline Herder Carson Swain, 95, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 in McPherson.
After graduating from high school she went to work in El Dorado in her sister-in-law’s caf√©. There is where she met her husband Lewis Carson. They were married for 47 years. To this reunion four children were born. Robert Lewis, twins Marion Ray and Marilyn Kay and Larry “Kit” Dean Carson. Pauline worked at Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita for 23 years while living in El Dorado. After Lewis retired from Skelly Oil Company and Pauline retired from Boeing they moved to Kimberling City, Mo., for five years and then they moved to Yates Center, where they made their home. She attended the Christian Church there the rest of her life. In 1982 her husband passed away in the Iola hospital and in 1983 she married Merle Swain from Little Sioux, Iowa. In October of 1999 Merle passed away.
Survivors are her four children, Robert (Judy) of McPherson, Marion (Judy) of Winfield, Marilyn Stroud of Edinburg, Texas, and Larry “Kit” (Lisa) of Davao City, Philippines; one stepdaughter, Joleen Swain; plus nine grandchildren’ 10 great grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also a very caring and loving Mother.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24 at First the Christian Church in Yates Center. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado. The family suggests memorials be made to Kansas Hospice or Yates Center Senior Center and sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 188, Yates Center, KS 66783.
