John Joseph Silvey, 88, Olathe, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 in Olathe. He was born June 30, 1922 in Piedmont, Okla., to Wallace and Alice Silvey. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He then attended Kansas City College and Bible School. He met and married Beulah James while attending classes at the college.
He enjoyed a long career as a printer. He was a longtime member of Overland Park Church of God (Holiness). He attended College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe.
Survivors include his children, Dean Silvey and wife, Linda, Teresa McCord and husband, David, Barbara Smih and husband, Ron, Mary Mays and husband, Kevin, and Kristina Rasmussen and husband, Don; grandchildren, Amy Zirjacks and husband, Kevin, Reid Silvey, Michael McCord, Timothy McCord and wife, Shannon, Paul McCord, Jennifer Smith, Kara Smith, Emily Kolenda, Joanna Mays, Molly Mays, Amanda, Alysen, Andrea, Austin and Anthony John Rasmussen; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his wife, Beulah, in 2006, and an infant daughter, Gwendolyn.
Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 20 at College Church of the Nazarene, Garrett Chapel, Olathe.
