Marie Louise Myers McDermed, 90, Pittsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at her home.

Marie was born Feb. 1, 1920 in Girard, to John and Etta Myers. She attended school in Beulah.

Marie was primarily a homemaker but spent many years helping her husband operate Mac’s Aircraft Repair at the Pittsburg Municipal Airport.

On July 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Mehrle “Mac” McDermed in Girard.

Marie was a member of the College Heights United Methodist Church.

She is survived by daughter Shirley Lechien, Pittsburg, son Marty McDermed, Sanger, Texas, and daughter Kaye Morris, Butler, Mo.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Floyd McDermed, Chanute.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 21, 2010, and one daughter Marilyn Rose.

Funeral is 10 a.m. today, Jan. 29 at College Heights United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Girard Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Angels Among Us or Harry Hynes Hospice and left with Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
