H.R. “Mike” “II Dog” Abildgaard, 56, Neodesha, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born Aug. 13, 1951, in Winfield to Harold and Buelah Woodard Abildgaard. He attended Independence High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from Nov. 14, 1968, until his honorable discharge on Nov. 17, 1971. He was a disabled veteran.

He married Mary J. Campbell on June 24, 2000, in Hulbert, Okla. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Amber Comacho, Omaha, Neb., Shiann Hallet, Independence, and Summer Abildgaard, Independence; a son, Zachary Abildgaard, Independence; a grandchild, Zoe Hallet; and two sisters, Judith Parnell and Janie Thompson, both of Fort Scott.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Potts Chapel, Independence. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m.
