Alma L. Burghart, 93, 816 S. Evergreen, Chanute, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008, in her home with her family by her side.

She was born on June 30, 1915, in Chanute to Sarah Elizabeth Eastburn and Horatio Franklin Hole. She was a lifelong resident of the Chanute area.

She graduated from Chanute High School in 1933.

On March 27, 1938, she married Raymond W. Burghart in Vilas. They took a vow to be together forever and they are now together once again. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved being with her family and they always brought a great joy to her.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and JoAnn Burghart, Chanute; three granddaughters, Vicki Westerman, Lisa Gant and Teresa Burghart; four great-grandchildren, Zeke Westerman, Joshua Westerman, Chase Westerman and Jeremy Gant; and a sister, Lillian Gallion, Cheyenne, Wyo.

In addition to her parents, her husband, a sister, two brothers, one in infancy, and two great-granddaughters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 28 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 27 from 7 until 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.

Memorials in her name may be made to Hospice or the Zion Lutheran Church and may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
