Jason Dean Claibourn, 36, Coyville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield. He was born Oct. 7, 1974 in Fredonia, the son of Samuel and Brenda Lour Claibourn. He attended grade school in Fredonia and Neodesha, middle school in Independence and Neodesha, and high school in Neodesha and Yates Center, where he was graduated in 1993.

Jason was a welder and pipefitter by trade, currently employed by B.C. Steel in Yates Center.

Survivors, in addition to his wife common-law wife, Amanda DeWeese, include his mother, Brenda Ellis, Coffeyville; his father, Sam Claibourn, Fredonia; his daughter, Skyler Ann Claibourn, Yates Center; his grandmothers, Anna Lour, Neodesha, Nellie Claibourn, Fredonia; a brother, Jarrod Claibourn, Coyville; a sister, Amy Jacot, South Coffeyville, Okla., a stepsister, Kimberly Ellis, Independence; Amanda’s children, Chandler, Tyler, Justin and Emerald, Coyville.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at Cornerstone Christian Church. Inurnment will follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Claibourn Educational Fund and contributions can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
