Washburn University and Washburn University Law School graduate. Member Phi Delta Theta Social fraternity.
Practiced Law in Chanute, Kansas since 1949. County Attorney Neosho County 1951-1955. Member Kansas Legislature 1955-1956. City Attorney Çhanute, Kansas 1960-1970. President City Attorneys Association of Kansas 1969.
Married Virginia Haynes 1951. Divorced 1983. She died 1992.
Children: Elizabeth Murphy, Boulder, Colo., Andrew W. Sherman, Lawrence, Kansas, David H. Sherman, Lenexa, Kansas. Preceded in death by daughter Sara Sherman. Eight grandchildren and two-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 9 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Chanute. A military internment will immediately follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
