Vera Ellen Thurman, 95, Iola, formerly of Erie and Beatrice, Neb., died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Iola Nursing Center. She was the widow of C. R. “Pat” Thurman, who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1997. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg. The family will receive friends at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday. Memorials are suggested to either the First Christian Church of Erie or the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Beatrice, Neb. Alice Kay Thompson, 69, Chanute, died Saturday, March 5, 2011at the Select Specialty Hospital in Overland Park.
